Dr. Edwards Deming was born in Souix City, IA on October 14th, 1900. Dr. Deming was educated in in mathematics acquiring his PhD from Yale University. Dr. Edwards Deming is credited with helping American companies improve their quality during and after World War II. Edwards Deming is also known for the help he provided to Japanese companies after World War II, helping Japanese industries improve their quality processes through the use statistical tools. Deming also helped Japanese management through lectures explaining the productivity and cost benefits associated with improved quality. Dr. Deming’s most notable quality contribution was his 14 points which provide management with a guidelines to make significant improvement. Dr. Edwards Deming died in Washington DC on December 20th, 1993.
