Dr. Eliyahu Goldratt was born March 31, 1948 in Isreal. Goldratt received his bachelors degree from Tel Aviv University and his masters and PhD from Bar-Ilian University. Goldratt was a physicist by degree but worked in manufacturing and then for a software company called Creative Output. During his time at Creative Output, Goldratt wrote The Goal the book that gave him his notoriety. The Goal is a fiction book in which the characters identify constraints and remove them to solve the company’s problems. This method is known as Theory of Constraints (TOC) and would be further explored in later books written by Goldratt. Dr. Goldratt would go on to create Avraham Y Goldratt Institute to further develop TOC and help companies implement the process. The Goldratt Marketing Group was founded in 2000 to promote TOC in other markets and continues its work today.
